Thirteenth Sunday of Pentecost

Jesus Promises to Be With Us

Matthew 18: 15 - 20

Luke 17: 3

Jesus promised many times that he would send the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, to be with us after his death and resurrection.

But in this passage he gives us one of his greatest promises, that wherever two or three of us are gathered in his name, he himself is present.

In verse 18, Jesus is talking about the awesome power he gave to the disciples, the power of the keys.

1. How should we try to settle our disagreements?

[We should try to settle our disagreements in private.]

2. What will God do for us when we are in agreement about what we pray for?

[God will do for us what we ask of him.]

3. When is Jesus always present with us?

[Jesus is always present when at least two of us are gathered together in his name.]
