The Sixth Sunday of Epiphany

Jesus Heals a Man with Leprosy

Mark 1: 41 - 45

Matthew 8: 1 - 4

Luke 5: 12 - 16

Leprosy was probably the worst disease known in the time of Jesus.

It was a long-term, slow-moving disease that didn't cause great pain or death, but it prevented people from praying and going to the synagogue and to the Temple in Jerusalem.

Again and again we see Jesus' curing of a physical disease so that people could return to God to be cured of their spiritual diseases.

1. What did the man with leprosy say to Jesus?

[The man with leprosy said, "You could make me well, if only you wanted to."]

2. What did Jesus say to the man?

[Jesus said, "I want to. Now you are well."]

3. What did Jesus tell the man to do?

[Jesus told the man to show himself to the priest and to take a gift to the Temple.]
