Confirmation Instruction Lesson 11

The Lord's Prayer

How Do We Follow Jesus?

What does it mean to follow Jesus? What does it mean to go his way?

Christians have struggled with those questions and the true meaning of call since the time of Jesus.

This is an interesting time to look at the lives of the early Christians, trying to place ourselves in their shoes. These are people who chose death in Christ over a pagan life (Frontline: From Jesus to Christ, the First Christians). Could we really do that in our modern society of comfort and ease?

We make sandals as we follow in Jesus' footsteps, and we take a trip to see sheep first-hand, to see how easily we can be led astray by an unwise shepherd.

Jesus has lots to say about what it means to follow him. Do we respond as quickly to his call as his disciples did in Luke 10: 1 -11, 16 - 20?

But even though Jesus calls us to unknown challenges and to tasks which we sometimes think are too big for us, we know that we are always safe and secure with him as our shepherd.
