Seventh Sunday of Easter

Tell All the Islands to Shout

Psalm 97: 1

God likes us to celebrate his goodness and wonder, and he likes all of his creation to praise him.

In the time of the Psalm writers inter-island travel over water or ice was difficult, if not totally impossible. Winds could blow people across water to reach new lands, but the wind wouldn't always send them back. So some island peoples became more isolated than ever before.

But God heard them, recognized them, and welcomed them, even if the island peoples couldn't hear one another.

Put up the background for ocean and shoreline and the banner, and let the children use sand paper and fun foam to make any sort of fantastical island they wish.

What songs would the islands sing to tell the whole world the good news of the wonder of God?
